Elegant, Intelligent and Funny

Airedale terriers are a wonderful breed. They are a stylish, black and tan beauty, that get many positive remarks when you walk a well groomed one down the street. They are smart,  independent thinkers, that don’t hesitate to figure things out. They will watch how you open, and then close, a gate. They will then proceed to open it, and follow you out. Be prepared to put snaps on all your gates. They are funny dogs, yes, they have a sense of humour and will figure out how to make you laugh. Be prepared, they do get into mischief!

Carol Robson , the owner of Shawndee, has qualified as a Master Breeder by the Canadian Kennel Club.

Airedale Terrier and Russell Terrier Puppies regularly available from a terrier breeder with 50+ years experience raising and showing several terrier breeds. Carol has been not only a breeder of Airedales, but also of several other terrier breeds. Currently, only Airedales and Russells are owned, and bred at Shawndee. You could say she is still a student learning about terriers…there is so much to know. Airedale breeders and breeders of any terrier should be a continuous learner, keeping abreast of all the issues pertaining to their chosen breed (s). Be sure that if you are considering any puppy, that the breeder belongs to local dog clubs and National Breed Clubs, and that they are familiar with health issues within their chosen breed (s).

Carol is a Life member of the Canadian Kennel Club, the Red River Terrier Association and a member of both the Airedale Terrier Club of Canada and the Airedale Terrier Club of America.
If you love terriers, you have come to the right place!

Shawndee Airedales

About us

We have been raising Airedales in our home in St. Andrews, Manitoba (15 minutes north of Winnipeg) for the past 30 years. Previous to this we lived in St. Clements, and Oakville, Manitoba. In those locations we had a larger acreage and raised other terriers, especially the Wire Fox and Cairn terriers. Since moving to St. Andrews we only raise the Airedale and the Russell Terrier. Our puppies are raised in the house, with their location looking into our kitchen. They see us as we prepare our meals and we can evaluate them as we watch them play.

Currently we have one male,  two Airedale puppies and three Russell’s, living with us. We have other females that live with their chosen  families, and who come home to raise a litter. Our puppies are socialized with our grandson, Owen, who is 8. We call him the puppy whisperer, as the Airedales and Russells love him and are willing to do his bidding.

Your Kind of Dog?

Owning an Airedale is a big commitment. You need a fenced yard, time to play with and walk your puppy, and lots of patience. Puppies are like children, other peoples’ children are so cute and well behaved, but it takes lots of work to get them that way. If you have children, you will understand. You need to invest a lot of quality time with a puppy to have an adult Airedale that other humans will admire. A puppy needs regular vet checks, vaccinations, and an introduction to obedience training, preferably by a reputable trainer in a local Dog Club

rating Jay Aye -

We were fortunate enough to be able to receive our Shawnee Airedale, Reuben, from Carol back in 2009. Reuben blessed us with his joy, enthusiasm, goofiness and chicanery for 13 wonderful years and we will be forever grateful for his time with us. Carol was very responsive to questions over the years and helped a lot when I tried showing Reuben as a puppy. Now that the sting of his passing has ebbed a bit, I have been in contact with Carol for another pup and would rather wait than look elsewhere.

rating Russells - Lily, Dottie & Spot

Grandmother to Granddaughter.. the best trio of fur babies for our family

rating Janice Dumont -

Wonderful dogs with a great personality. Shawndee Airedales five stars. She’s very informative and helps you if have any questions or concerns. Our first airedale is 8years old “Turbo” strong hunting instinct. I regularly go skiing and biking with. Our second Dog Ranger we got at 3 year old with some behaviour issues (due to the previous owner) but with advice from Shawndee Airedales he’s turned into a very loving dog.
